GripDeck® 5 Year Anti-Slip Technology Warranty

The GripDeck® 5 Year Warranty covers GripDeck® anti-slip technology used in retrofit products, including RetroGrip® inserts and Stadia Strips. These products are designed to improve the slip resistance of existing timber decking, steps, stairs and access routes without replacing the original boards.

Under normal conditions, GripDeck® expects our anti-slip technology used in retrofit products to remain effective for 10 years or more. This expected service life is provided as a guide only and does not extend the formal 5 Year Warranty period.

Important: This page covers the 5 Year Warranty for retrofit products including RetroGrip® and Stadia Strip. Factory-applied GripDeck® decking products are covered by a separate 10 Year Anti-Slip Warranty.

What Is GripDeck® Anti-Slip Technology?

GripDeck® anti-slip technology is the combination of specialist epoxy resin and anti-slip aggregate used within our retrofit inserts and anti-slip strips. In RetroGrip®, the anti-slip material is encased within an aluminium channel manufactured to GripDeck® specifications.

Epoxy Resin System

Designed to secure the anti-slip aggregate and provide long-term durability in external environments.

Bauxite Aggregate

A highly durable anti-slip aggregate selected for long-term pedestrian grip performance.

Aluminium Channel

RetroGrip® uses an aluminium channel manufactured to GripDeck® specifications for retrofit installation.

What Does the 5 Year Warranty Cover?

The warranty covers failure of GripDeck® anti-slip technology where the product has been correctly installed, maintained and used under normal pedestrian traffic conditions.

Excessive Aggregate Wear

Excessive wear of the anti-slip aggregate to below the top surface of the insert, strip or material in which it has been installed.

Resin De-Bonding

De-bonding of the epoxy resin from the aluminium insert, strip or groove in which it is installed.

Aggregate Loss

Significant de-bonding or loss of the anti-slip aggregate from the epoxy resin surface.

What Is Not Covered?

As with all product warranties, certain exclusions apply. These help ensure the warranty reflects genuine product performance rather than external factors outside GripDeck® control.

Not CoveredReason
Failure of existing timber deckingThe warranty applies to GripDeck® anti-slip technology, not to the timber or substrate to which the product has been fixed.
Incorrect installationMalfunctions or failure caused by incorrect installation by a third party are excluded.
Adhesive failureAdhesive failure caused by poor preparation, incorrect adhesive use, unsuitable installation conditions or incorrect fitting is not covered.
Non-bauxite or non-Dynagrip aggregatesColoured quartz and alternative aggregates are not as hard wearing and are not covered by this warranty unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Vehicular or animal trafficThe warranty applies to normal pedestrian use only. Vehicular traffic and animal traffic are excluded.
Metal wheel trolleysUse of metal wheel trolleys across GripDeck® anti-slip technology will invalidate the warranty.
Impact damage or vandalismExternal damage, deliberate damage or impact damage caused after installation is excluded.
Excessive timber movementFailure caused by damaged, failing, unstable or excessively moving timber is not covered.
Extremely high temperatures or extreme footfallUse outside normal conditions, including extremely high temperatures or exceptionally high levels of footfall, may be excluded.
Installation notice: Retrofit anti-slip products rely on correct installation and a suitable existing substrate. Always ensure the decking, step or surface is sound, clean, dry and suitable before installing RetroGrip® or Stadia Strip products.

Why the 5 Year Warranty Matters

Retrofit anti-slip products are often used to upgrade existing decking that has become slippery or unsuitable in wet conditions. A clear warranty helps customers choose a product with confidence and understand how long-term performance depends on correct installation, suitable substrates and appropriate use.
