GripDeck® Hardwood Anti-Slip Decking
Premium hardwood anti-slip and non-slip decking manufactured to order in a wide range of timber species, including Yellow Balau, Iroko, Oak, Cumaru, Garapa, Ipe and Ekki, with board sizes, profiles and insert layouts tailored to commercial, marine, heritage, leisure and high-end domestic projects.
Hardwood Anti-Slip Decking Made to Your Specification
GripDeck® Hardwood Anti-Slip Decking is a premium slip-resistant and non-slip timber decking option for projects where durability, natural appearance and long-term decking grip are all important. It is commonly specified for commercial walkways, marinas, piers, bridges, hotels, public access routes, visitor attractions, heritage projects and high-end domestic decking.
Unlike standard softwood decking, most hardwood GripDeck® products are manufactured to order as project-specific decking boards. We hold limited quantities of Yellow Balau decking in stock, but most other hardwood species, sizes and profiles are produced specifically to suit each project specification, including Iroko, Oak, Cumaru, Garapa, Ipe and Ekki where available and suitable.
Which Hardwood Non-Slip Decking Is Right for Your Project?
Choosing hardwood decking usually depends on appearance, durability, availability, budget and the environment where the boards will be installed. Yellow Balau is a popular hardwood decking option for many commercial and domestic projects, while species such as Iroko, Oak, Cumaru, Garapa, Ipe and Ekki may be considered for specialist, marine, heritage or long-life applications.
GripDeck® can help architects, contractors, landscape designers, local authorities, marinas, heritage sites and commercial clients compare hardwood decking boards, timber species, profiles and anti-slip insert layouts before production.

Important Timber Suitability Notes
Green or Fresh Sawn Oak
Green or fresh sawn oak can move significantly as it dries, including twisting, checking and shrinkage. This movement can place excessive stress on factory-bonded anti-slip inserts and may not be suitable for GripDeck® manufacture.
Massaranduba
Massaranduba is extremely dense and can have a naturally smooth, polished finish. This can create resin bonding issues at times, so suitability should be discussed before specifying anti-slip inserts in this timber.
Species Availability
Hardwood availability changes regularly. Lead times and pricing depend on species, size, quality, FSC® certification requirements and current supply.
Hardwood GripDeck® Profiles & Insert Layouts
GripDeck® hardwood anti-slip and non-slip decking can be manufactured in a range of suitable profiles and insert layouts. Depending on the timber species and machining requirements, boards can be supplied with smooth or grooved faces to create attractive, durable slip-resistant decking for commercial, marine, heritage and domestic applications.

Grooved Hardwood GripDeck®
Traditional hardwood decking profile with factory-applied anti-slip inserts bonded into selected grooves to create a durable non-slip decking surface.

Smooth Hardwood GripDeck®
Smooth hardwood decking with precision-machined channels for factory-fitted anti-slip inserts, providing an attractive non-slip decking solution for premium projects.
Request Samples2 or 3 Insert Layouts
Two inserts are suitable in around 90% of applications and provide excellent slip resistance for most pedestrian areas. Three inserts may be preferred where the primary direction of travel follows the length of the boards, such as bridges, ramps, boardwalk decking and long walkways. Bespoke insert layouts are also available for specialist projects requiring enhanced slip-resistant decking performance.
