At GripDeck, we understand that safety is non-negotiable when it comes to outdoor surfaces. Whether it’s a timber deck, a bridge, a marina, or an access ramp, slippery surfaces caused by rain, algae, frost, or ice pose a real risk. That’s why we supply AKO Safety Matting – a proven, high-quality, slip-resistant solution designed to make walkways and decking safe all year round.
Manufactured in Germany to exceptional quality standards, AKO Safety Matting is a flexible, durable, and weather-resistant product that combines comfort underfoot with outstanding grip – even in wet or icy conditions. GripDeck is proud to supply this professional-grade matting to customers across the UK looking for a fast, effective, and low-maintenance way to reduce slip hazards outdoors.
What is AKO Safety Matting?
AKO Safety Matting is a rubber-based anti-slip surface system designed to sit directly on top of existing decking, walkways, bridges, or ramps. It’s available in roll form or pre-cut mats, making it easy to install and suitable for both commercial and domestic environments.
Each mat is constructed from a durable, UV-resistant PVC-coated polyester mesh, designed to provide high traction and drainage in all weather conditions. The open mesh structure allows water, dirt, and debris to pass through freely, meaning the mat remains grippy and clean, even during heavy rain.
It’s a practical alternative to replacing decking boards or installing permanent anti-slip surfaces – ideal where you need a quick, non-invasive safety upgrade.
Key Benefits of AKO Safety Matting
- Exceptional Anti-Slip Performance
The textured rubber surface and open-mesh design provide excellent slip resistance, even when wet or icy. The matting exceeds industry standards for anti-slip safety, making it suitable for public walkways, footbridges, pontoons, and domestic decking alike. - Comfortable and Safe Underfoot
AKO Safety Matting combines strength with flexibility. It offers a cushioned feel that’s comfortable to walk on, while still providing firm, confident footing. This makes it a popular choice for care homes, schools, and leisure facilities where both safety and comfort matter. - All-Weather Durability
Manufactured to withstand the harshest outdoor environments, AKO matting resists UV damage, frost, and moisture. It won’t crack or harden over time, ensuring a long-lasting safety surface that continues to perform year after year. - Quick and Easy to Install
Installation couldn’t be simpler. The matting can be laid directly on top of decking, ramps, or paths, and can be fixed with stainless steel screws and washers or left loose for temporary applications. It can also be trimmed to fit around obstacles and irregular shapes. - Low Maintenance
AKO Safety Matting is easy to clean – a quick brush or hose down removes dirt, moss, or debris. Unlike painted or coated surfaces, the mat doesn’t require re-treatment or re-coating, saving you time and money on maintenance. - Proven German Engineering
Manufactured by AKO – a company renowned for its commitment to quality and innovation – this matting meets the highest European standards for safety and performance. GripDeck has supplied AKO matting to hundreds of commercial projects across the UK, and the feedback is consistently excellent.
